Paris apartment rentals going away?

A new article was printed in the NY Times today discussing the ongoing discussion that Paris city officials are considering outlawing short term rentals. This dialogue began over a year ago, and is not new, however the NY Times article has opened up the topic again. The article incorrectly states that short term rentals are illegal in Paris. This is simply not true; there are just a number of rules in effect that basically imply that a person renting an apartment in Paris (for any duration) must have the authorization to do so and comply by the various local laws. This applies to most agencies today. I would suggest not renting with an individual owner who requires cash payments and does not provide you with an official contract, but that is common sense to most of us..

However, the idea that the city officials might continue to frown upon short term rentals could happen. For a variety of reasons, vacation rentals might become more difficult to come by in the upcoming years. This is not for sure, but it could happen. Therefore for people who love coming to Paris and plan to continue to do so into the future, the idea of Paris Fractional Ownership is the way to go...

By purchasing a share of a beautiful Paris apartment, you can come to Paris each year and enjoy your wonderful Paris pied a terre, risk free and you will always be sure to have the same place, since you own it. Paris fractional ownership is becoming a very desirable way for people who love the City of Light to invest a bit and actually own their own place here. This would certainly remove any risks about being closed out of the rental market in future years, and provide you with your own Paris home sweet home...

Euro weakens--Paris strengthens

The Euro has started a downward trend with respect to most other international currencies with notably a fall to below the $US 1.40 per Euro rate. This has been in process for the past month and seems to be what 2010 holds for Europe. As the Euro weakens, the increased value will make European travel and investment even more favorable for Americans, Canadians, South Americans, Australians, etc. Now is the perfect time to consider that trip to Paris that you put off last year for economic reasons. Rentals in Paris is still offering reduced rates on our beautiful central Paris apartments to help you make the decision even more easily.

In addition for those of you who were considering buying an apartment in Paris, our Paris Fractional Ownership properties are expanding and each day it becomes more and more reasonable as the Euro falls. Please feel free to email any questions you have about owning a share of a beautiful Paris pied a terre.

Paris apartments: Paris fractional ownership

Paris is such a surprising city. It doesn't seem to follow patterns seen anywhere else in the world. This past year while the news was constantly reminding us of the poor state of the economy, you would have been hard pressed to see any signs of this in the City of Light. Restaurants, cafes, stores and museums were all more alive than ever before. This goes for Real estate here too. The desirability of owning a Paris apartment has turned the Paris Flat into a pretty stable place to invest some money. With interest rates as low as they are today, this has created more incentives to purchase a Paris apartment for many who have wanted to do so and finally decided to go ahead with their dream plans..

Paris Fractional ownership is the easiest way to go about making a first purchase in Paris. The amount of money required is far less than buying the property as full time owner outright and the worries involved with day to day management are minimal since our management team takes care of everything for you. We are proposing ideally located Paris apartments on the Ile de la Cite and in the Marais and shares are already being sold so please have a look here if you are interested..

Look forward to hearing from you.

Rentals in Paris Winter specials

November is always a great month to come to Paris. There are many fewer tourists in the heart of the City of Light in November and December each year, however there are many events and special opportunities that only occur in these months each year. We just had the great Beaujolais Nouveau evening which was a big success this year. In addition the Louvre, the Musee d'Orsay and the Palais du Luxembourg are all offering new expositions that have all begun this past week.

We are happy to offer discounts to our guests during these months which are considered off season, to help you make the most of your stay at very reasonable prices.

Please enter your dates here to see what is available:

From Colorado to Paris: Maribeth Clemente

Would you like to 'Live like a Parisian for a period of time' as discussed by Maribeth Clemente in her recent article published in Bonjour Colorodo . This well known travel writer honored Rentals in Paris LLC with a very informative article highlighting the advantages of selecting one of our beautiful Paris apartment rentals.

Glenn Cooper notes that it makes sense from the point of view of your wallet, which will be happy to see you've chosen the Paris apartment rental option instead of a costly Paris hotel. These days, hotels are so costly that beautiful apartments are a big bargain by comparison. They are also much more spacious and comfortable and include many amenities that don't exist in hotels or are charged extra (i.e. WiFi, telephone service).

The article then describes the wonderful feeling for Paris apartment renters to really have that experience to live like a local in the City of Light. Nothing beats going to a local Parisian market and picking out ingrediants you'll need to make a wonderful Parisian dinner at home during your stay here. You'll see Paris through a brand new perspective once you've done this.

Glenn does mention that for apartments are not the perfect fit for everybody. Those who need to have their hands held and like the comfort of having a 24 hour concierge may still prefer to pay the extra cost and stay in a hotel for this reason. However, rental agencies such as Rentals in Paris have office assistants who can assist you with most of your questions so this is less of an issue today than it might have been years ago when renting Paris apartments. The key is to ensure that you rent with a company that has physical presence in Paris; not an agency that mails you the keys with instructions to show yourself into your Paris apartment when you arrive. This is a no-no and should be avoided at all costs for obvious reasons.

Left bank or right bank? That remains the main question you should focus your attention on when choosing your Paris apartment rental. All neighborhoods have cafes, restaurants, metros, busses, stores, etc. but they have different characteristics and appeal to different types of people. A little internet research should help you to make the perfect decision before choosing your next Paris rental...
